I purchased two of these cribs about four months before my second daughter was born (she is now 11 months). Our first crib for my first daughter was recalled twice for drop down rail suffications which scared the living daylights out of me so I just purchased two new cribs without the drop down side rail. My toddler jumps around and plays in her crib as well as climbing all over the outside as well. We haven't had a problem with the side rails on either crib becoming loose. I love the way the cribs look. They have a beautiful oak finish and I'm hoping with the conversion they will both last many many years. We are going to be converting our toddlers crib to a toddler bed in a few month so I cannot speak to how the conversions have gone at this point, but I do know that we are extremely happy with both of our cribs, the way they look and their safety.

I bought this crib two months ago for my nine month old. Thus far I like it very much. The color is true to the coffee feel and assembly was pretty easy (I could put together the frame, but needed my husband's help to get the bottom in). I always appreciate when folks do the pro/con list so here is mine:
Pros

Difficult to adjust mattress height (but maybe all cribs are like that?)
Slats are far enough apart for baby to stick his legs through, for the first few nights getting used to it he would get his legs caught and scream bloody murder, but did not actually injure himself (just got scared), and no longer does it.

*I have a 29lb child so having the crib low is both a blessing and not great. I have to bend over to get him in and out, but when he starts trying to climb out/does climb out it is not far for him to fall, and if I choose to convert the crib to a toddler bed if he rolls out, again, it will not be that big of a deal. I am also not sure how annoying the lowness would be if you had this crib for your infant ...
Overall I am a fan of this crib and so is my son.

This crib was on our list for a while before we actually made the purchase. I was concerned that it would be some low quality particle board that would fall apart in a few months. In addition, I have not had the best of luck with furniture in a box (pieces missing or damaged, screw holes that never line up). I was pleasantly surprised when I unboxed the pieces of this crib. All of the pieces felt very nice they felt very much like real wood. I do know at this price you are not going to get a solid cherry wood, but what it was made of seemed much better than furniture I have gotten before. Also, assembly went very smoothly, it was intuitive where pieces went and how it went together. The one downside I have is that the instructions were very unhelpful and hard to read, so I had to guess how to put it together(this was not that hard). Also, I screws do not look the greatest, they should have included some covers for them.
