The photos here on Amazon and on the manufacturer's website, show 3 levels of white mattress brackets ... so you can position the mattress near the top (for a changing table) ... near the middle (for a bassinet/crib) ... or at the bottom (for a playpen).
However, the crib that we received only has 2 levels. Top (changing pad) and Bottom (playpen). There is no middle level (Crib Setting)!
I even emailed the manufacturer 3 times to try to clarify the issue (why their own website shows 3 levels, yet they are shipping a 2 level crib with no "crib" setting). They refused to address the issue, and just kept responding, "The Tian has 2 levels."
So, unfortunately, this is being returned.
I would strongly recommend avoiding this manufacturer ... they seem uninterested in quality control, honest marketing, and customer service.

I got this crib for my visiting granddaughter and absolutely love it. Not only is it a nice looking crib but easy to put together and then to store. YOu do need to order a better mattress though. The mattress that comes with it is very thin and was not comfortable enough in my opinion for a baby. I purchased a 3 inch mattress that fit perferctly because these portable cribs are a standard size in the industry. Folding it up was very easy after removing the mattress. I simply fold it and slide it into a closet where it hardly takes up any room at all. The Wheels are sturdy as well, making it easy to move the crib when we need to. They have locks on them so you can keep the crib from moving. The adjusting heights of the mattress are perfect for a growing baby. The sides do not come down, but the crib is the size of a pack and play playpen, only much easier on your back as you are lifting a baby out o fit. I ordered the black color to coordinate with my decor. It has a couple of scratches on it that I touched up easily with a majic marker pen. The crib arrived packed flat in a box, was easily put together. Very clever design to fold up with hardly any trouble at all.

I, too, misunderstood what I was ordering in spite of the product title of "two level" - due to the photos showing the mattress in the middle, which is how I hoped to use it as our regular crib for the first year until our son outgrows the regular sized crib.
I put this together by myself, 8 months pregnant, in about an hour. It wouldn't have taken me that long if not for doing it alone and being 8 mos pregnant. Very easy to assemble.
I am a bit disappointed that the crib setting is only one level, at the very bottom. This will make it difficult to use with a newborn. The high setting is very much usable only as a changing table as it is too high to put even an immobile baby. We will use our co-sleeper for as long as possible because of this. It's very difficult to lower a newborn baby over a railing to a lower level set mattress!! Not sure what they were thinking not putting a middle support on this crib.
We also ordered the 3 inch deep Naturpedic mattress to use with this crib, which is definitely too high for the high mattress setting (instructions say not to use anything thicker than 2 inches in high setting). The "mattress" that comes with this crib is very thin and not much more than a cheap 1+ inch foam thing with some kind of covering over it. I can't think of any use for it.
Also note that while the crib is real wood, the mattress support is compressed wood fiberboard. And it doesn't provide ventilation like the metal frame of our regular sized crib for my older child. If you're not using an organic mattress beware that lack of ventilation causes off-gased chemicals (from fiberboard or the mattress itself if not organic and especially if fire retardant treated) to get trapped and not ventilate away from the baby.
The fiberboard mattress support is not painted, either. This means that unless you're using a crib skirt (we weren't planning to), the "wood" color fiberboard will show beneath your mattress.
I also planned to use our Bloom changing table tray on top of the portable crib as a changing station while baby used the crib in the crib setting. That likely won't work. I didn't realize the front and back railings were curved (it does say it's curved in the product description, but I thought that meant the sides, not the front/back, where our changing tray would fit).
Beware of these points before you purchase. I might have returned this if I had thought through all of these points before I tossed the box.
I originally chose this portable crib over others because:
- it's the largest mini-crib I could find and wanted it to last longer than the Bloom Alma and others that seem to be popular but are too small for more than a few mos
- it's a fairly modern look
- it comes in white
- it was advertised as all wood (the crib is, the mattress support is not - falsely advertised)
- I thought it had a middle level (it does not)
- I thought it had flat/stright front/back rails (they are curved)
So given these expectations, I marked it down to 2 stars. I'll update if, after baby comes, I like it more or it's easier to use with a newborn than I expect it to be.
As I'm posting this review, I just read another reviewer's comments about the smell of the fiberboard. It's true, it did smell a bit for a day or so. I have no idea what the board is made of and am also considering getting a piece of plywood cut to size to replace this, just in case it is treated with formaldehyde or other chemicals.
